Q. Why is this page called, “Might be a FAQ”?

A. Well nobody has really asked me any questions. So I’m guessing what people might ask me if they were going to ask me questions frequently.

Q. Don’t you have anything better to do?

A. If I did, I wouldn’t be making a module and running a guild.

Q. Why did you name this Module/Guild “Kingdom of Desire”?

A. I had to name it something, and the name “Kingdom of Desire” was a suggestion made to me by a very good friend. But there is more to the story then that. A while back I was playing on another unnamed server, and it seemed everybody involved with that server did not like the way the king (Module creator) was running things. My friend Rohan, (the guy that suggested the name Kingdom of Desire) suggested we strike out and make our own module. However, he would only be part of this project if the fellow that ran the server was going to be onboard. We were all convinced he knew just about everything in the world about creating a NWN module and without him, we would be screwed.

Now, I’m not about to get into personalities here, so I’m not going to name the guy that ran the server, but let’s just call him… um, “Thieving bastard”. Thiveing bastard said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Why make a whole new module when we can just modify this one to suit our needs. It would take MONTHS to make a good module”. Of course Thieving bastard banned the Module creator from his server and stole all his work, but that is another story.

I was crestfallen (bummed out). It seemed like the dream of building a new and better module would never happen. Without the help of Rohan, and Thieving bastard, there was nothing I could do. I’m as ignorant to this computer stuff as you can get. I didn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of creating anything good.

Or so I thought.

Thing at the unnamed server got really, really bad. Thieving bastard was thieving and bastarding all over the place. The situation got so untenable, I had to leave and never go back. Of course, this left me with nowhere to get my game on, but that turned out to be a good thing. I opened the Aurora toolset in earnest and decided I was going to do what it took to make a module. I’ll admit it was rough going at first. I really didn’t know anything about anything. I spent hours scouring the Bio ware forums, looking for answers, clicking on web sites and downloading tutorials. But after a few days, I found myself getting a handle on things.

In retrospect I can make a few informed statements.

The NWN community is astounding. Frankly if left to the information supplied by Bio Ware, I would still be scratching my head. But I have found the members of the NWN community very supportive, very helpful, and very patient. As for the scripts used in “Kingdom of Desire”, I can claim authorship of none of them. All were supplied by the community via “NWN Vault” or by guild member WebWyvern. I find the fact that so many have contributed so much, astounding. They did it for free, a labor of love, and made it available for anybody that wanted to try and improve the game. And if I had to name a patron saint of Kingdom of Desire, it would be WebWyvern. Jack, I salute you sir. You officially ROCK!!!!!!

The Aurora toolset kicks much ass. While I don’t know much about the nuts and bolts of making games, I imagine it’s really complex. The fact the toolset allows such a newbie as myself to make a module that doesn’t suck is astounding. While I’m not a fan of everything Bio Ware does. The Aurora toolset ROCKS!!!!!

And finally, concerning “Thieving bastard”. Since the community is so supportive, and the toolset so useful, the fact you had to STEAL a module only proves what low life scums bag you are.

Q. Oh yeah……. Um, what Haks does Kingdom of Desire use?

A. Socially Sweeter at this point. But we are working on a new hak, just for our module that will add more and more content. Here at Kingdom of Desire laboratories, we don’t sleep, we don’t eat, we don’t have sex (at least not with other people). No, all we do is labor day and night to give you more, more, and yes………. EVEN MORE!!!!!

Q. Who’s the biggest asshole in the NWN community

A. While there are many contenders for that title. I would have to say it’s Smoke from City of pleasure. He’s such a thieving bastard.
