Talia the bard

I am Talia the Bard. My tale, quite long I must say, considering my age. I started out as an orphan. Growing up in Sparrowdale orphanage was a life akin to slavery. In my 14th year I decided to leave without asking permission. I knew that all the escaped to the woods ended up back in chains, so I stowed away on a ship, headed for God knows where. I ended up in the land of Ellernia. I took up the life of an adventurer looking for a hero to immortalize in song. While it was an interesting life, it was far too sweaty for a person of my delicate nature. I joined the band of the scattered few, and in time, this group grew in their influence with the people. This drew the attention of the order of the shining blade. A group of paladin’s that sought to be the people champion, no matter how corrupt they were. It was only a matter of time before they started slaying my brethren in droves. Of course, I did not approve and said as much. Before I opened my big mouth, they didn’t consider me a threat. That all changed in a few sentences. I had to leave Ellernia in a rather unceremonious manner. Since this time I have always been a bit suspicious of Paladins.

The ship I was on brought me to Parnak in the kingdom of Tharicon, the city of slaves. Now let me make it clear, I’m no fan of slavery in any form. But Parnak did give me a chance to lay down my weapon and pursue more creative and profitable ventures. I gave up song and committed myself to the theater. It was here that I made my fortune and headed off to find a less repressive city to live in.

I met king Zulic in my travels. It was as he was rebuilding his city that I found him. I decided to make his “City of Pleasure” my new home. I opened a shop and met a man name Smoke. He was a hansom young man, and I must confess I feel for him like a ton of brinks. Shortly after we met, after a rather passionate encounter, he proposed to marry me. I was quite happy to say yes.

If only life was so simple.

Smoke, being a rather skillful man with a sword was given the position of the First Guard by King Zulic. And I was rather proud of him. After a short while, the king had given him so much power, he was only second in authority to the king himself. If only he could have been happy with such power, things would have been so different.

After living in the kingdom, I had the opportunity to meet the good Queen Kara. Suffice it to say we hit it off. To this day we are best of friends.

If you know the history of Landers, you know that Smoke killed the good King Zulic. While this made me… Queen, I would have no part of the treachery. Then to compound matters, I found out while I had been faithful to Smoke, he was not faithful to me. As I left the city of pleasure, I vowed I would never look back. I understand that Smoke married another the day I left. What some women won’t do for power.

I feel I should point out, that Smoke was also a Paladin. Once again confirming my worst suspicions about them.

When I heard that Landers Dankill was building a city for those fleeing the oppression of Smokes tyrannical rule, I came to do what I could do to help him. And here I sit, my shop is open, and more people come to the city everyday.
